Men have all the power. John and John keep hearing people say that men have all the power, but it doesn’t feel like that to them. Abbi and Helen are making a show about Man and men. Because we all need to pull together now. We want to talk about masculinity and patriarchy but the words that exist aren’t good enough. So there’s music and dance too. Fringe First winners 2010 and 2011 return with a playful new show about gender and language. Two women play two women playing two men.

A blindfolded boy violently swings a stick at a piñata. A choir of ghosts gatecrash a child’s birthday party. The front and back ends of a pantomime horse can’t see eye to eye. It Folds is a poignant, humorous portrait of death, grief, beauty and the extremes of the human condition from two of Ireland’s leading performance companies. A multi award-winning show fusing the distinctive choreography of Junk Ensemble with the innovative theatricality of Brokentalkers. Both companies are Project Arts Centre Artists.

It Folds is a co-production with LÓKAL Festival Reykjavík. Supported by Culture Ireland.

A rich contemporary performance collage of film scripts, pop songs, advertisements, elaborate costumes and dance all stretched, teased, shattered, and reassembled to challenge the treatment of women’s bodies as spectacle in popular culture. If there’s not dancing… uncovers the collective fantasies underneath these bodies, intervenes and explodes them into feminist confetti.

With their friendship and complicity spanning almost two decades, Mauro Paccagnella and Alessandro Bernardeschi meet again to dance together. Their dance takes its inspiration from Claudio Monteverdi, Bob Dylan and Italian pop music and delves into the memories of these two teenagers from 1970s Italy, born of the union of TV and infamous politics. A dance performed by two bodies of the same age, almost the same weight, with more or less the same bald patches and the same wrinkles.

Supported by Wallonie-Bruxelles Théâtre/Danse, the official international promotion agency for the performing arts in Wallonie-Bruxelles.

Offsite and outdoor performance installation inspired by Victorian spirit photography and belief in the afterlife. Set in a unique location in the Scottish Borders, Dudendance’s new production is a ghostlike vision with white dressed figures emerging through the landscape around Haining House and grounds. The slow meditative pace and sculptural quality of the performance unfolds like a dream around the audience who discover different views of the performers through and into the landscape.

All In is a wild ride through vastly different worlds where everyday situations take unexpected turns into the absurd and intimate. Dictatorships, nightclubs, national anthems, education and self-help manuals in an epic journey that makes you wonder how free we are from the tyranny of the crowd. Atresbandes bring striking visuals to their characteristic blend of physical theatre and meditative text in a darkly playful exploration of the millennial condition. A brand new show from the young Catalan company, previously seen at Summerhall in Festival 2013 with the ‘uproariously rude and discomfiting’ Solfatara (Donald Hutera, The Times).
