Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance, London’s International Drama School, is arts university in residence at Summerhall for Festival 2016. World-leading training, practice and research will be the focus of our work in the Upper Church space. Graduate company work and international guest artists form the core of this year’s festival programme. We are pleased to be presenting, for the first time in the UK, the Workcenter of Jerzy Grotowski and Thomas Richards from Italy with their productions, a conference looking back at their history and a five-day workshop.

Presentation of the Film Documentation of Jerzy Grotowski's Akropolis
Workcenter of Jerzy Grotowski and Thomas Richards
Carla Pollastrelli, Co-Director of Fondazione Pontedera Teatro from 1993 to 2012, will introduce and present video documentation of Akropolis. An outstanding realisation of Grotowski's Laboratory Theatre, Akropolis had its premiere in Opole (Poland) in 1962 and was also performed at the Edinburgh Festival in 1964, having a profound impact worldwide.
