Happy Norway Day

Happy Norway Day is a show structured around two people at a birthday party, interspersed with extracts of poetry from Pablo Neruda that instigates and charts the rise of affection between the two. The performers play party games at disjointed paces to show that what they watch is what they are, and that they interpret who they really are from a muddle of pop culture references and gentle encounters. We have all had that awkward first date, come and see if this relationship stands a chance of succeeding. This is a preview of a piece in development.

The Lost Game

Every single day, he writes to her from his cell. She never answers. She never will. As four performers embody the mind of an abandoned prisoner, the unspeakable is realised in a fierce physical tension between loss and desire. Using live music, physical theatre and text, Decoupage Collective depict the prisoner’s subconscious, blurring the line between reality and illusion.

The Living Room

Home is a place in which we welcome one another. By starting from this fundamental action, that can take place in any living room, we enter an investigation into how the potentialities of performance can both enrich and be enriched by daily inter-personal relations and realities. How can our room come alive? Within our meeting in Upper Church a performative event unfolds, structured and precise, a living stream of actions based on work with songs of tradition, as well as texts exploring what it takes to awaken ourselves, the other, and the world.

Shot mostly in New York City with a wide range of people who share a passion for Shakespeare, the film explores new ways of thinking about memory in our digital age, where learning things by heart is increasingly rare. Presentation of the Film Documentation of Jerzy Grotowski’s Akropolis

Carla Pollastrelli, Co-Director of Fondazione Pontedera Teatro from 1993 to 2012, will introduce and present video documentation of Akropolis. An outstanding realisation of Grotowski’s Laboratory Theatre, Akropolis had its premiere in Opole (Poland) in 1962 and was also performed at the Edinburgh Festival in 1964, having a profound impact worldwide. Pollastrelli will also take the audience on a journey through Jerzy Grotowski’s life and creative process, with a specific focus on the work he carried out between 1959 and 1969 with the Laboratory Theatre Company.

The London Underground handles over four million passengers every day. Half the population of a multicultural capital scurry beneath the city to travel together. Each carriage is inhabited by cross sections of society; countless combinations of class, race, and opinion meet in a space in which you can barely whisper. A chorus of nine become hundreds of passengers from all walks of life. Using spoken word poetry, they create the tones, mechanisms and inhabitants of the tube as they journey through the veins of the city.
